WHAT WE OFFER

This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site. This includes the sustainability and development of these operations to allow for the safe and responsible production of both Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate films.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Integrates the site's incident free workplace culture into all activities. Routinely mitigates safety related issues and actively participates on site safety teams. Capable of Management of Change activities for standard process and project activities.
  • Provides day-to-day support to production activities. Evaluates process condition tracking sheets and makes routine changes for optimization. Develops new / updates Standard Operating Procedures and materials for operator training activities. Creates plans for process and product development trials.
  • Provides technical support to the production and maintenance teams in a 24/7 manufacturing environment. Applies root cause analysis techniques to identify and resolve issues with raw materials, processing equipment, and operating techniques. Capable team member in a structured problem-solving activity.
  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset. Leads moderate continuous improvement teams / efforts at the site. Identifies opportunities for improvement activities at the site.
  • Capable of leading small site capital improvement projects. Provides necessary process engineering support to capital improvement projects across the site. Identifies improvement project opportunities.
  • Understand the business and economic drivers for the site.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) and a minimum of 3 years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, or maintenance environment or a MS degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2 years of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional registrations and/or certifications
  • Advanced Degree
  • 6+ years of experience, with thermoplastic film extrusion and web handling
  • Microsoft Office
  • CAD, Project, Minitab, SAP experience

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills.
  • Practices active listening skills, able to communicate openly and effectively, providing timely and relevant feedback to facilitate appropriate actions by self and others.
  • Relates well to people at all levels in the organization and possesses a balanced sensitivity to safety, employee concerns and business needs.
  • Able to function as a peer in a team environment and lead cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Diligent and conscientious worker, self-motivated, self-starter and possessing self-directive capabilities.
