WHAT WE OFFER

The maintenance technician will perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and modifications in East Providence Manufacturing including all activities to run manufacturing.

Summary of primary duties and qualifications but not limited to:

  • Ability to work safely and independently, pay attention to detail, and follow all Covestro Life Saving Rules, Corporate SHE procedures, and Wilmington site safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of industrial Mechanical and Electrical equipment.
  • Efficiently and accurately perform general skilled maintenance tasks including, pipefitting, carpentry, pneumatics, instrumentation, and other mechanic skills.
  • Develop an understanding of the mechanical operations of the site-specific manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems, provide solutions, and implement.
  • Work well in a team orientated environment.
  • Communicate and work well across all functions within and outside manufacturing.
  • Coordinate and support activities executed by contractors - ensure work is performed to Covestro safety and quality standards.
  • Repair damaged or broken equipment to manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Computer literacy - able to perform site specific online training and work in CMMS System (Computerized Maintenance Management System - SAP PM) - Open and close work requests, enter mechanic time, and ensure proper supply of spare parts.
  • Participate on improvement team(s).
  • Flexibility to accept new responsibilities and / or expectations as business focus changes

Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) Responsibilities:

  • Give Safety, Health, and Environment (SHE) priority - ALWAYS!
  • Accept personal responsibility of your own Safety and Health and that of your colleagues.
  • Accept personal stewardship of our environment by understanding the potential impact of job activities, plant wide activities, and business in order to protect it during daily activities.
  • Use the Safe Work Permit System to complete necessary maintenance activities in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Maintain high standards of and continuously improve housekeeping.
  • Have an understanding of the OSHA Process Safety management standards and how it affects maintenance activities.
  • Understand risks, hazards, and how to complete risk assessments.
  • Ability to participate in Confined Space Entry and Confined Space Entry Rescue. (Training Provided by Covestro)
  • Ability to safely work in level B suit (full face respirator and SCBA supplied air)
  • Make Safe Choices. All rules and procedures must be followed. Unsafe practices will not be tolerated. Each employee is required to meet the standards.
  • Prevent future accidents. Each employee must report all incidents and near misses in Covestro's reporting system. Share learning and learn when others share.
  • Participate in incident / near miss investigations.
  • Correct unsafe behavior and conditions by using root cause analysis to generate effective corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety meetings and SHE related activities.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:

  • High school diploma/GED with a minimum of 2 years in an industrial environment working in a Maintenance Mechanic role supporting production machinery (Vessels and Reactors preferred)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Plumbing, HVAC systems repair and maintenance

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings / schematics
  • Certified maintenance skills, strong aptitude for understanding manufacturing equipment, good communication skills, and the flexibility to change tasks when necessary.
  • Good communication & connecting skills.
  • Learning agility and being able to adapt mindset & behaviors in a changing environment.
