As Senior Strategy Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the strategy for our Carbon and Silica Technologies businesses. It is a great opportunity to lead the charge in developing cutting-edge solutions that contribute to a sustainable future. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, engage with industry experts, and drive initiatives that will define the trajectory of our business in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Your responsibilities will extend to defining and implementing comprehensive global strategic plans for Business Units (BUs), with a focus on leading the development of BU-specific projects related to organic and inorganic growth) to include overseeing the BU Long Range Plan (LRP). This role reports directly to the Director of Global Marketing and Strategy.

How You Will Make an Impact
    Lead comprehensive business unit (BU) strategies, aligning them with overall corporate goals.
  • Own and oversee the BU's Long-Range Plan (LRP), ensuring it reflects the strategic direction and growth objectives of the business unit.
  • Analyze upstream and downstream industry landscapes, market trends, industry growth drivers, and competitive activity.
  • Utilize insights gained from industry analysis to inform and adjust BU strategies, ensuring alignment with market dynamics.
  • Lead the development of business cases for BU-specific organic projects including expansions and debottlenecking projects,
  • Play a pivotal role in negotiating long-term contracts, leveraging business insights to secure favorable terms for the BU.
  • Lead asset road-mapping, and strategic pricing projects
  • Drive business transformation initiatives, overseeing changes that enhance operational efficiency and competitiveness.
  • Act as business partner to BU- Collaborate closely with BU commercial teams, providing strategic guidance and support during high-impact negotiations.
  • Develop and implement BU inorganic strategy and drive M&A and partnership activities for BU by working with key internal and external stakeholders to deliver desired outcomes

  • Technical Applications Knowledge. Knowledgeable about Cabot's technical capabilities and applications and how they complement performance of customer.
  • Analytical Ability & Financial Acumen. Strong analytic skills is a must. Ability to identify and analyze what is important and recognize depth of analysis needed. Ability to interpret and synthesize issues to draw conclusions. Knowledgeable of policies, practices, trends, and information affecting the business; adept at building and interpreting financial models
  • Communications & Presentation Skills. Ability to engage in all internal and external presentation settings in a manner that is timely, relevant, and appropriate to the environment.
  • Organizational & Interpersonal Engagement. Ability to work in close alignment with people from other functions and influence/engage others to address issues, resolve conflicts.
  • Project Ownership & Management. Ability to take ownership for ensuring desired outcome of project and establish and monitor milestones towards objectives. Strong project management background will be an advantage.
  • Strategic Agility. Sees ahead clearly; can anticipate future consequences and trends accurately; has broad knowledge and perspective; is future oriented; can articulate possibilities and create breakthrough plans

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor/University degree in science, engineering, or finance preferred. Experience leading strategic projects, strategic planning process, M&A and/or strategic marketing preferred. MBA is strongly preferred
  • 10+ years' experience in business with focus in business management, strategic planning, strategic marketing or M&A
  • Experience in B2B chemicals, industrial, or manufacturing industries required
