We are seeking a Construction Manager to manage the construction phase services for water, wastewater, environmental, civil/site, drainage, and transportation projects. Monitor and report the contractor's adherence to standards, specifications, design drawings, and permits. Oversee the work of resident project representatives on other projects, coordinate their workload, and provide them with technical support. Reports to a Principal.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently under broad, general supervision and is responsible for overseeing construction management for multiple projects throughout the company in the New England area.
  • Oversee construction activities of resident project representatives ensuring compliance with the contract and site procedures.
  • Assist Project Managers and resident project representatives with resolving construction issues. Assist and meet with the general contractor as required to resolve construction-related issues.
  • Complete knowledge of testing services and EP's sub consultants scope of work and responsibilities.
  • Review contract documents, submittals, RFIs, and other project documentation and provide comments, coordination review, and record as necessary.
  • Oversee construction activities ensuring compliance with the contract and site procedures, track activities to review payments, and prepare progress reports.
  • Monitor that construction complies with approved current standards and specifications.
  • Review resident project representatives daily reports.
  • Conduct meetings and prepare minutes.
  • Monitor project schedule.
  • Write and issue field orders, initiate change proposals for design team review and approval, estimate cost of changes, negotiate costs with contractors, and recommend acceptance to the Project Manager.
  • Observe and record material and equipment tests and equipment startup.
  • Review and provide recommendations for submittals, pay estimates for contractors, proposed change orders, and documentation for funding and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to complete constructability and technical reviews of construction documents prior to bid.
Requirements:
  • Minimum ten years of experience in construction management and/or inspection for consulting engineers or municipalities.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Demonstrated managerial and conflict management skills.
  • Knowledge of engineering plans, specifications, practices, and methods.
  • Knowledge of Massachusetts publicly bid construction laws including Massachusetts Public Bidding Laws Chapter 149.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and specifications.
  • Experience monitoring the work of multiple resident project representatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate both orally and in writing with contractors, engineers, municipal staff, and general public.
  • Knowledge of construction standards, inspection methods, and techniques.
  • Self-confident with the ability to communicate effectively with project managers, client staff, and contractor's superintendent.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Computer proficiency with Microsoft applications.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Certification preferred.
  • OSHA 40-Hour Training preferred.
Salary Range: $130,000 to $150,000 (negotiable)
