WHAT WE OFFER

This position is responsible for supporting manufacturing processes at the Covestro South Deerfield Site. This position develops and maintains Quality systems used for the production of Thermoplastic Polyurethane and Polycarbonate films and sheets that meet internal Quality standards and Customer requirements. This includes supporting local / global Quality objectives, ensuring the effectiveness of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System at the Covestro South Deerfield Site and improving Quality outcomes using structured problem-solving tools to investigate and address Quality problems, issues and opportunities.

Major Responsibilities:

Safety:

  • Capable of maintaining an incident free workplace and ensuring housekeeping standards are met.
  • Participates in the mitigation of minor safety related improvements projects.
  • Learns and implement Management of Change tools.

Quality Management System:

  • Supports SDF Quality Management System for ISO 9001:2015 certification and alignment with Global IMS.
  • Serves on Self Assessment team to meet annual Compliance requirements.
  • Maintains / updates existing Quality documentation.
  • Supports QMS processes (Calibration, DCR, NCMR, MRB, Supplier Management (raw materials), etc.).
  • Learns about creation of Customer specifications, PPAP, Quality Survey and other Customer documentation.

Technical Support:

  • Provides day to day support to the Internal Customer (Production, Engineering, GQM, GTPM, CO/OM, MM, Innovation) to ensure Quality outcomes at site.
  • Learns Customer requirements and develops in role as Voice of the External Customer / Voice of Business.
  • Understands and maintains Quality documentation (raw material specifications, Production Record reports, Quality SOP/Work Instructions, etc.).
  • Observes normal Quality outcomes and process and product development trials to develop technical skill sets.
  • Supports site and global activities as needed (Gage R&R, Round Robin testing).
  • Participates in Quality training.
  • Learns and develops skills to provide engineering support to projects across the site.

Continuous Improvement

  • Possesses a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Participates in continuous improvement teams / efforts at the site.
  • Develops and utilizes CI tools in both project and daily work to meet customer expectations. Generates Quality KPI data as assigned and supports data analysis. Learns statistical analysis to determine process and product capability.

Business Support:

  • Learns and applies basic business and economic principles in daily / project work.
  • Learns role as Voice of the External Customer / Voice of Business.

WHAT YOU OFFER

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred ChE, Polymer, Materials)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Desirable - Advanced degree, ASQ certification (LSS Yellow/Green Belt, Quality Engineer, Quality Auditor), Minitab, SAP.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, organizational skills.
  • Practices active listening skills, able to communicate openly and effectively, providing timely and relevant feedback to facilitate appropriate actions by self and others.
  • Relates well to people at all levels in the organization and possesses a balanced sensitivity to safety, employee concerns and business needs.
  • Able to function as a peer in a team environment to ensure timely delivery of results.
  • Diligent and conscientious worker, self-motivated, self-starter and possessing self-directive capabilities.
  • Computer skills - Microsoft Office products
