No more than 3 schools - most likely elementary schools
Working alongside other district OTs - very team oriented

ASSIGNMENT: Candidate will serve as occupational therapist providing a range of
direct to indirect therapy services to students in special education, ages 3-21. Candidate will
collaborate with teachers, parents, and other support staff for students they serve in special
education. In addition, candidate will collaborate with staff in general education classrooms as
part of the Tiered Intervention initiative, to support improved pre-referral interventions.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Must have completed a baccalaureate or higher degree program in occupational therapy
from an American Occupational Therapy Association-approved program.
2. Appropriate Washington State ESA certification is required and must be on file prior to
beginning work.
3. Washington State OT license is required and must be on file prior to beginning work.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Knowledge of special education law (IDEIA 2004) in order to carry out OT in the
educational setting.
2. Proficient with technology in order to:
1. Document and manage their caseload
2. Complete legally required paperwork and maintain required deadlines.
3. Use assistive technology strategies to serve students on their caseload.
3. Ability to adapt the environment, the school tasks and/or provide appropriate adaptive
equipment to help students access their educational environment.
4. Ability to use professionally recognized evaluation tools and intervention methods to
meet the educational needs of students on their caseload;
5. Ability to use a variety of data management systems to monitor student progress.
6. Desired characteristics needed to perform duties are:
1. Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills;
2. Strong written communication skills;
3. Ability to relate to students, parents and staff professionally, positively, and
cooperatively;
4. Flexibility and innovative problem-solving;
5. Ability to organize time and materials to accomplish goals;
6. Demonstrates effective time management to manage caseload;
7. Ability to learn new ideas and skills;
8. Ability to build and participate in an effective educational team to support student
progress.
