ABB's Distribution Solutions Division provides utility, industrial and commercial customers with safe, smart and sustainable technologies for the distribution of electricity. With ABB AbilityTM enabled digital solutions at its core, our extensive portfolio includes distribution automation products, switching, limiting, measuring and sensing devices, switchgear, modular substation packages, and related services. The role reports to the Quality Control Manager and is located in Pinetops, North Carolina. As a Quality Inspector - 2nd shift, you will be required to verify quality work has been completed in functions such as incoming inspection, fabrication, assembly, casting, shipping and/or other areas as assigned.

Your responsibilities

  • Inspect and troubleshoot any defects or discrepancies in conformity
  • Assist other Quality Control (QC) Personnel, Operators, Assemblers, etc. when quality questions arise
  • Perform inspections using measurement tooling (calipers, gauges, meters, etc.)
  • Train other employees as well as participate in additional training
  • Inspect, examine, and observe for product or equipment defects
  • Cross Training will be expected and required
  • Potential of some weekday and/or weekend Ove time (OT)
  • Experience in the use of various hand tools such as screwdriver crimpers etc. but not limited to
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
Your background

  • 1 year of experience in manufacturing environment, assembly or casting preferred
  • Experience using computers Microsoft Office Suite and other web applications
  • Ability and experience in reading interpreting engineering drawings and other related technical drawings and models
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to climb ladders, stand/walk for long periods of time and lift heavy objects
  • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Desired experience in SAP and Windchill
  • Ability to work with teams and deliver feedback to operators concerning identified issues
  • 1 year experience in quality
  • Work along of as a member of a team
  • Initiative, teamwork, flexibility & attention to detail
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States
