Why this job matters:

Manage operational, strategic planning, and engagement activities for the Chief Medical Officer and clinical leadership team. Develop mitigation strategies to ensure achievement of corporate and divisional goals. Assess existing organization project portfolio; ensure projects add value to organization and contribute to the achievement of key performance indicators. Lead special projects, and ongoing oversight and monitoring of progress through various management processes and reporting mechanisms. Conduct market intelligence via benchmarking, and industry insights to identify capability gaps.

What you will do:

  • Partners with the CMO in translating strategy into short, medium and long-term plans. Develop business plans and strategies to help the Clinical Affairs organization meet short and long-term corporate objectives; help determine key performance indicators and how to measure team performance.
  • Set agendas for key internal meetings; help prioritize among competing corporate and departmental need, following up on the same with minutes/action Items
    Continuously improve cross-functional teamwork across the organization looking for ways to improve efficiencies and processes; ensure productive external engagement and coordination.
  • Elevate issues requiring immediate attention to CMO and clinical leadership team. Build connections among physician community by facilitating monthly meetings, organizing programs, and hosting bi-annual retreat.
    Create mitigation strategies and identify investments that will best support strategic imperatives.
  • Analyze current state of marketplace trends and competitive activities to identify gaps in corporate and divisional plans.
  • Works with the CMO in preparing reports, presentations and/or papers to present to the Executive Leadership Team, CEO and/or Board of Director as required. Develops presentation and reports on progress against strategic initiatives.
  • Assist with the development of short-range strategy planning (one to two year) and long-range strategic plan development (four to five years) and assess implementation each year to determine evolution of yearly corporate strategy.
  • Provide direction and guidance to staff. Set goals, review, and evaluate work, and prepare performance reviews.
  • Lead department projects and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What you need to succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in field of science, public health, health administration, public relations, or other analytical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Three to five years' experience in market research or a strategic planning capacity
  • Prior health plan or managed care experience
  • Ability to coach and motivate to maximize performance
  • Ability to effectively communicate goals and business objectives to employees
  • Strong and effective decision-making skills
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Suite of products (i.e., Word, Excel, PPT, etc.)
  • Ability to effectively interact with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively delegate work and manage project tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to convey complex or technical information in an effective manner
  • Knowledge of business analysis industry trends and best-practices
  • Strong knowledge of market research methodologies
  • Advanced analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and synthesize complex data sets
  • Good business acumen and political savvy
  • Knowledge of business process improvement techniques and strategies
  • Negotiation skills

Location:

BCBSRI is headquartered in downtown Providence, conveniently located near the train station and bus terminal. We actively support associate well-being and work/life balance and offer the following schedules, based on role:

  • In-office: onsite 5 days per week
  • Hybrid: onsite 2-4 days per week
  • Remote: onsite 0-1 days per week*.

*-Permitted to reside in the following states, pending approval from the Human Resources Department: Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Connecticut and Virginia
