West Virginia University (WVU) is currently inviting applications for a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor position in its Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. This faculty position is housed in the newly established WVU College of Applied Human Sciences (CAHS), where academic excellence is not just a goal, but a shared passion. Appointment:
The position appointment is for the Morgantown campus beginning August 2024 or January 2025. Summer teaching opportunities may be available based on course demand. Teaching positions at WVU are full-time, non-tenure track, with no research component.

Responsibilities:
We are seeking a highly qualified individual who will contribute to the mission of the institution by working with faculty, learners, and community partners in a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will teach online and possibly in person courses in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. In addition, they will contribute to student growth and development including student advising supervision, and mentorship. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide service to the school, college, university, and profession. The service responsibilities could include online program coordination and/or clinical field placement coordination depending on previous experience.

Qualifications

Qualifications:
To be considered, applicants must have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education, preferably from a CACREP-accredited program. Alternatively, candidates must meet the 2024 CACREP standards definition for a core faculty member at the time of appointment. Other qualifications are as follows:

  • Demonstrated ability to teach courses in clinical mental health counseling, possibly those in counseling skills and techniques, clinical counseling courses, career counseling, and research methods.
  • Demonstrated proof of creative and impactful teaching with adult learners, including proficiency in online instructional formats.
    Proven track record in driving innovation, showcasing resourcefulness, and consistently adopting a solutions-oriented approach to overcome challenges effectively.
  • Excellent communication (written and oral), interpersonal, and organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to coordinate, manage, and lead.
  • Preferred qualifications include prior experience serving as an academic program coordinator and/or clinical field placement coordinator in counselor education. To be considered for appointment at the rank of teaching associate professor, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a track record of successful college and university teaching over a five-year period.
