POSITION SUMMARY

The Sign Shop Technician is responsible for coordinating signage and graphics on resort under the Stratton Mountain brand guide. This position will produce, build, and install in-house produced signage. Our ideal candidate will have experience in design, fabrication, and installation of various sign types and styles. This position will work alongside the Senior Brand Manager. This is a full-time year-round opportunity. This position will pay between $20.00 - $30.00/ hour DOE.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Produce and install various signs in and around the resort.
  • Plan and design signs for buildings, posts, windows, vehicles, and landscapes.
  • Determine size, color, letter type, illustrations, and method of production as appropriate to purpose.
  • Prepare artwork.
  • Fabricate signs using power and hand tools, lumber, plywood, plexiglass, card stock and the like.
  • Cut to size and shape. Prepare and finish material.
  • Provide copywriting and proofreading.
  • Install finished signs in appropriate locations.
  • Inspect, repair and/or repaint existing signs.
  • Prepare and maintain a variety of tickets/forms related to sign orders.
  • Responsible for seasonal resort transition of all on resort signage.
  • Work closely with Graphic Designer or Coordinator on signage production to meet needs of business.
  • Understand, implement, and uphold brand standards.
  • Perform regular audits of on resort experience to ensure temporary signage is minimized.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Education: Basic high school education with post-secondary education or training in digital graphic arts and commercial sign making.

Experience: 3-5 years of experience working in a sign shop, experience with power tools with knowledge of carpentry.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient with software including the Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator & Photoshop).
  • Experience working with large scale printer and vinyl cutter.
  • Competence with various hand and power tools for the production and installation of signs.
  • Clear focus and time-management skills.
  • Ability to work with moderate supervision and deal effectively and courteously with personnel across a wide range of departments.
  • Be comfortable working at heights, work safely and comply with workplace policies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent eye for details.
  • Creative thinker and problem solver.
  • Project management skills.
  • Ability to juggle conflicting/changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Solid communication & presentation skills


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

This position may be required to work evenings, weekends and holidays.

Office Environment:
  • Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move and position a minimum of 50 pounds on an occasional basis.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
  • Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.


Mountain Environment:
  • The primary physical environment in which this position works is out of doors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
  • The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
  • Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
  • Exposure to: Chemicals required for cleaning, de-greasing, and painting Ultra Violet radiation from the sun enhanced through lack of atmospheric filtration at work altitude. Fumes produced in activities ranging from cleaning to painting to fabrication of metal products. Noise generated by snowmobiles, lift equipment, and tools may require hearing protection to be worn.
  • Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
  • Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
